You will have plenty of time to relax, explore the city, the country, or do whatever on the weekends. From time to time, there will be events and activities (like community events, trips with the kids and families, summer camps etc.), that will take place on a Saturday or Sunday, or both! In these cases you’ll be expected to participate and help out with the activity, but on most weekends you will be free.
